2.3.11 Outbrain.Com SUCKS!
Some of you may have noticed a little change to the look of the blog.
Yes, I know its been like this for a while, but I finally got around to writing about it. I wouldn’t have said anything about it, but it really ticked me.
As you know, I used to have a widget that allowed you to rate posts either indirectly on the home page, or in the body of the post. The widget also allowed you to see related posts. Oh and it was from Outbrain.com, and usually gets good reviews.
One day I decided I wanted to freshen this up, and add a thumbnail preview, instead of just a link. So I signed up for an actual account. But it never worked, so I sent an email to the help.
I get the response that because my blog has gay porn as its subject matter, I’ve violated their TOS. I can understand that, but it took them A YEAR AND A HALF, AND 170,000 CLICKS on my blog from that widget to figure that out. So all I’m saying is if you’re going to have a rule, maybe you should actually enforce it, and what is the big harm in allowing your widget to be used in a gay porn blog? This I don’t understand.
So I’ve kind of gotten around this…LinkWithin has been awesome at showing related posts on my blog. Though I haven’t been able to find a rating widget that had the functionality of Outbrain, Blogger has a rating widget, and I’ve been using it. It isn’t as covert as Outbrain’s, and doesn’t have the same functionality though.

I was over that widget in a week. LinkWithin is sooo much better. However, I still have been looking for a great rating system. Not that many good ones out there to choose from.
@Lonell:That's why I liked it. People didn't necessarily have to leave a comment (which I know they don't like to do) to express their feelings on a blog post. If you've got 20 1-star votes then you pretty much knew.Like I said, the one in Blogger is OKAY, but not as good as Outbrain's.
