Sam Mikulak actually is a second-generation gymnast; both his parents were gymnasts at UC Berkley. Since they were gymnasts, you know that he was gonna follow in their footsteps; he started training in gymnastics at the age of two.
Fast-forward to his freshman year of college at the University of Michigan in 2012, and he wins the NCAA Men’s all around. He continued to dominate in his second year, and now his third year of college. He’s actually the first member of the University of Michigan men’s gymnastics team to qualify for the Olympic games. Interestingly enough, his roommate at University of Michigan will be competing in the Olympics too, but for Bangladesh.
